Terms & Conditions

1. Our approach

At Hygge Paws, the physical and emotional wellbeing of every dog comes first.

We provide a calm, home-based environment with small, carefully matched groups. Dogs are not expected or required to play or interact continuously. They are given opportunities to rest, move away from interactions and choose whether to participate in activities.

Group composition, activities and routines may be adjusted according to the individual needs and wellbeing of the dogs.

2. Admission & introductory period

Admission to Hygge Paws is subject to an initial assessment.

Before joining a regular group, each dog may be required to complete an introductory or trial period so that we can assess how comfortable they are in the environment, with the people caring for them and with other dogs.

Hygge Paws reserves the right to refuse, pause or discontinue attendance if we consider that the environment is not suitable for the dog, or if their behaviour or emotional state compromises their own wellbeing or that of other dogs.

Where appropriate, we will discuss the situation with the owner and consider whether changes or a later reassessment may be suitable.

3. Owner information

Owners must provide complete and accurate information about their dog's health, behaviour, social history and individual needs.

Owners must inform Hygge Paws of any relevant changes, including illness, injury, medication, behavioural changes or incidents involving people or other dogs.

Information that could reasonably affect the safety or wellbeing of the dog, other dogs or the person caring for them must not be withheld.

4. Health, illness & contagious conditions

Dogs attending Hygge Paws must be in a suitable state of health to participate in day care.

Dogs showing signs of a potentially contagious illness, such as vomiting, diarrhoea, persistent coughing, fever or other symptoms that may pose a risk to other dogs, should not attend.

Hygge Paws may ask an owner to collect their dog if signs of illness develop during the day.

Owners must inform Hygge Paws of any medical condition, injury, allergy or physical limitation that could affect the dog's care or activity.

5. Vaccination & parasite prevention

Owners are responsible for keeping their dog's vaccinations and parasite prevention appropriate and up to date and for providing documentation when requested.

Hygge Paws may establish health requirements necessary to protect dogs attending the service.

Dogs with fleas, ticks or suspected contagious parasites may not attend until appropriately treated.

6. Female dogs in heat

Female dogs in heat cannot attend Hygge Paws.

Owners of unspayed female dogs are responsible for monitoring their dog's cycle and informing Hygge Paws as soon as they become aware that their dog is coming into heat.

Attendance can resume once the heat cycle has ended and it is appropriate for the dog to return to the group.

7. Social behaviour & group compatibility

Dogs attending Hygge Paws will share the environment with other dogs.

Owners must disclose any known history of biting, serious conflicts, resource guarding, escape behaviour or other behaviour that may be relevant to safe group care.

Dogs are matched taking into consideration factors such as temperament, communication style, activity level and individual needs.

Hygge Paws may change group composition whenever we consider this beneficial for the dogs involved.

8. Drop-off & pick-up

Dogs should be dropped off and collected within the agreed time windows.

If an owner expects to arrive outside the agreed time, Hygge Paws should be informed as early as possible.

Arrival and departure procedures may be adapted when necessary to maintain a calm environment for the dogs.

9. Food & treats

Owners must provide any food their dog requires while attending Hygge Paws unless otherwise agreed.

Food should be clearly labelled and accompanied by feeding instructions where necessary.

Owners must inform Hygge Paws of allergies, intolerances or foods/treats their dog must not receive.

Hygge Paws will follow the feeding instructions provided by the owner as far as reasonably possible.

10. Medication

Medication may be administered only when agreed in advance.

The owner must provide the medication in its original packaging, clearly identified, together with written instructions specifying the medication, dosage, administration time and any relevant precautions.

Hygge Paws may decline to administer medication or treatment that requires veterinary expertise or that cannot reasonably and safely be provided within the day-care environment.

11. Veterinary emergencies

Owners must provide their regular veterinary clinic and an emergency contact.

If a dog becomes ill or injured, Hygge Paws will attempt to contact the owner and, where appropriate, the emergency contact.

If urgent veterinary attention appears necessary and the owner cannot be reached within a reasonable time, Hygge Paws may seek veterinary assistance in accordance with the emergency authorisation provided by the owner.

Veterinary costs are normally the responsibility of the owner, except where liability legally rests with Hygge Paws.

12. Normal risks of group care

Although dogs are supervised and reasonable precautions are taken, interaction between dogs and normal physical activity involve some inherent risks.

Minor scratches, superficial injuries, muscle soreness, dirty or wet coats and similar incidents may occur during normal play and activity.

Hygge Paws takes reasonable measures to prevent avoidable injury and will inform the owner of significant incidents involving their dog.

13. Collars, harnesses & personal belongings

Dogs should arrive with suitable equipment as agreed with Hygge Paws and with legally required identification.

Owners are responsible for ensuring that collars, harnesses and leads are in safe condition and fit correctly.

Personal belongings may become dirty or damaged during normal day-care activities. Owners are therefore encouraged not to bring valuable or unnecessary items.

14. Escape risk

Owners must inform Hygge Paws if their dog has a known history of escaping, climbing, jumping fences, opening doors or attempting to run away.

Hygge Paws will take reasonable precautions appropriate to the information provided by the owner.

15. Photos & videos

We will respect your choice from the dog registration form about uploading pictures of your dog to social networks.

16. Privacy & personal data

Hygge Paws processes personal information provided by owners for the purpose of managing bookings, providing appropriate care, communicating with owners, handling emergencies and administering the customer relationship.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Further information about what data Hygge Paws collects, why it is collected, how long it is retained and the owner's rights is available in our Privacy Policy.

17. Prices, payment & cancellations

  • For single-day bookings, payment is due on the day of the service.
  • When several days have been agreed for the same week, payment for all agreed days is due at the end of that week, unless otherwise agreed with Hygge Paws.
  • We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or change a booking, we kindly ask that you let us know as soon as possible, preferably at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Occasional late cancellations due to illness, emergencies or unexpected circumstances will be handled with understanding.
  • If Hygge Paws needs to cancel a booking, no payment will be due for that service. Any payment already made for the cancelled service will be refunded or, if preferred, credited towards a future booking.
  • Alternative payment arrangements may be agreed individually with regular clients when appropriate.

18. Changes or termination of attendance

Hygge Paws may pause or terminate a dog's attendance where reasonably necessary for the dog's welfare, the welfare or safety of other dogs or people, repeated failure to comply with health requirements, or serious/repeated breaches of these Terms & Conditions.

Where reasonably possible, Hygge Paws will discuss concerns with the owner before terminating regular attendance.
